Choose the venue before setting out for Christkindlmarket. Daley Plaza is the downtown Chicago option; Wrigleyville is at Gallagher Way; Aurora is a separate Illinois city. Their 2026 calendars overlap, but they do not have the same weekly hours or final day. This guide helps you choose one visit without mixing the three timetables.

Three venues, three different plans
| Venue | Season | Planning difference |
|---|---|---|
| Daley Plaza | 20 Nov–24 Dec | Downtown Chicago, daily |
| Wrigleyville | 20 Nov–31 Dec | Later weekday opening; closed 25 Dec |
| Aurora | 20 Nov–24 Dec | Usually Thu–Sun; special additional days |
The organiser announces free market admission. Purchases and separately promoted activities can cost extra. Check the particular product before buying anything described as an event ticket.
Daley Plaza: the downtown Chicago visit
The market is at 50 W Washington Street, Chicago. From 20 November to 24 December 2026, regular hours are Sunday–Thursday 11:00–20:00 and Friday–Saturday 11:00–21:00. Thanksgiving, 26 November, and Christmas Eve close at 16:00 after an 11:00 start.
Choose Daley Plaza if your route centres on downtown Chicago. Do not use a normal evening closing time for either holiday. Check the Daley Plaza organiser page.
Wrigleyville: the option after Christmas
Gallagher Way is at 3635 N Clark Street, Chicago. The announced season is 20 November–31 December 2026, with Christmas Day closed. Regular Monday–Thursday hours begin at 15:00; Friday–Sunday start at 11:00. Closing is normally 21:00, except Sunday at 19:00.
Special sessions replace that pattern: 21–23 and 28–30 December are 11:00–21:00; Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are 11:00–16:00. This is the later-running market, but not a Christmas Day shopping option. Check the Wrigleyville calendar.
Aurora: RiverEdge Park has its own trading days
Aurora’s market is at RiverEdge Park, 360 N Broadway, Aurora. Its 20 November–24 December 2026 season normally trades Thursday 11:00–19:00, Friday–Saturday 11:00–21:00 and Sunday 11:00–18:00. It is not normally a daily market.
The operator adds Wednesday 25 November and 21–23 December at 11:00–19:00. Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve are 11:00–16:00. A Tuesday visit earlier in December therefore needs a different plan. Check Aurora’s current schedule.
Which location should you choose?
Choose the venue that fits the rest of your day rather than assuming that three locations form an easy walking route. Aurora requires a separate journey from Chicago. Compare the actual transport route and return service before committing to a particular session; this guide does not calculate travel times or promise a parking space.
For a first visit, write down three things: the full venue name, the date and the last trading hour. Share that same meeting point with your group. If a holiday session ends at 16:00, leave room for shopping before the close instead of arriving for a normal evening plan. Weather, queues and access arrangements can still change the experience.
Shopping and the archive photograph
The organiser describes German-style food, drinks and gifts across its markets, but a specific seller or product should be checked in the current venue directory. Ask the seller about ingredients, packaging, payment and any mug deposit before paying; this guide does not carry forward an old edition’s menu prices.
The photograph shows Daley Plaza on 25 November 2010. It identifies that historic setting, not Wrigleyville, Aurora or the current layout. For other cities compare our USA and Canada Christmas market guide and the Christmas collection.
Sources and editorial method
