Toronto’s Christmas market is now called The Distillery Winter Village. The organiser announces the 2026 season for 12 November 2026–3 January 2027 in the Distillery Historic District at 55 Mill Street. A visit can be free, but the answer changes with your date and arrival time. Permanent shops, seasonal cabins and ticketed attractions also have different arrangements.

When can you enter for free?
The official ticket page separates free periods from paid entry. For a day whose paid period begins at 16:00, you must already be inside the gates before that time to enter free. Joining a queue before 16:00 is not the same as entering before 16:00.
| Visit period | Published admission rule |
|---|---|
| Opening evening, 12 November | Ticketed from 16:00; tree lighting at 18:00 |
| Friday–Sunday during the season | Tickets from 16:00, subject to the dated calendar |
| Monday–Wednesday through 13 December | Free all day |
| Thursdays in December | Tickets from 16:00 |
| 14–31 December | Tickets from 16:00 daily when open; 25 December is closed |
| 1–3 January 2027 | The daily schedule lists no ticket requirement |
Use the current date-specific calendar for an unusual date or late visit. Do not carry an early-season free-weekday rule into the second half of December.
Retail opening is different from cabin opening
The daily schedule needs careful reading: its introduction says the district opens at 10:00 and cabins at noon, but many dated rows list an 11:00 cabin start. These entries differ; confirm the intended date rather than assuming every seasonal stall opens with the shops.
- 24 December: the table lists retail 10:00–18:00 and cabins 11:00–18:00.
- 25 December: both are marked closed.
- 3 January: retail is listed until 21:00 but cabins finish at 18:00.
The final day of the season does not mean every activity continues until the latest retail closing time. Check the named activity separately before building a visit around it.
Choose a ticket for the visit you actually need
General Admission is for the selected date and entry window. Flex and Express have different change and entry conditions. Compare the current product terms and final total, including service fees and tax; a headline starting price is not the checkout total. The ticket page says sales are online and there is no on-site box office. It also states there are no in-and-out privileges.
Children aged nine and under have free general admission. That does not make every activity free: the Immersive Nutcracker has separate admission, and attending it during a paid village-entry period also requires the applicable village ticket.
Getting to 55 Mill Street
The organiser’s transport page recommends public transport or rideshare because parking is limited. It describes the 504A King streetcar to Distillery Loop and a walk from Union Station of about 25 minutes. Check current TTC service and your own access needs before travelling; that walking estimate is not a guaranteed journey time.
Our existing Distillery Winter Village directory record supplies an archive map reference. Its pin is not a surveyed 2026 entrance. Compare other Christmas-market city guides, or see how paid entry works differently at Vancouver Christmas Market.
Sources and checking method
Official sources checked 27 October 2026. This is a researched planning guide, not a first-hand visit, live queue report or opening guarantee. The organiser’s 28 September 2026 announcement confirms the season; current admission and dated schedules should be checked again before travelling. The archive photograph does not establish this year’s stalls or access.
