Colmar Christmas Markets 2026: Dates, Hours & Six Sites

Colmar’s main Christmas markets are announced for 23 November–29 December 2026, while the Gourmet Market continues to 3 January 2027. Choose the named market before choosing a date: the indoor Koïfhus craft market, outdoor shopping squares and food-focused Montagne Verte area are different stops. The official schedules also contain a small Boxing Day discrepancy.

The official practical-information page publishes these main-market hours. Individual venue entries supply exceptions; the Koïfhus page starts at 11:00 on 26 December, against 10:00 on the overview. Confirm that particular venue if an early Boxing Day visit matters. All times are local to Colmar.

Six market areas: choose by what you want to browse

The tourism office’s six-market overview brings together several distinct settings. Use these differences to choose a first stop rather than assuming all six offer the same kind of shopping.

  • Place des Dominicains: decorations and gift browsing beside the Dominican church. Official venue details.
  • Place de l’Ancienne Douane: outdoor stalls around the Schwendi fountain and the Koïfhus setting. Official venue details.
  • Place Jeanne d’Arc: the food-and-regional-product emphasis makes it a useful stop for Alsatian specialities. Official venue details.
  • Petite Venise / Place des Six Montagnes Noires: the family-oriented market area, distinct from an indoor hall. Official venue details.
  • Inside the Koïfhus: local artisan work in a historic building, including ceramics, glass, woodwork and jewellery. Official venue details.
  • Marché Gourmand, Montagne Verte: a food-focused stop with its own longer calendar. Official venue details.

The individual tourism listings describe free access to the market areas. Purchases, rides and separately booked activities are different costs. Check the particular offer before paying, especially if a ticket combines several attractions.

What stays open after 29 December?

The Gourmet Market’s dated event listing continues through 3 January 2027. It lists 11:00–22:00 for normal sessions, with 31 December reduced to 11:00–17:00. The general practical page also gives a January extension for the wheel and Place Rapp festivities. That does not extend every gift-shopping chalet’s season.

For a trip starting on 30 December, choose the food area or named later-running attraction deliberately. A photograph of decorated streets does not prove the craft and gift markets are still trading. Check the current venue calendar before arranging a special journey.

Plan the arrival separately from the shopping route

Save the official practical-information page for its pedestrian-zone, parking and shuttle notices. It lists selected park-and-ride weekends rather than a shuttle every day, and explicitly says there is no such shuttle on 26–27 December. A normal city service, a tour coach and a seasonal park-and-ride bus are different travel options.

Build the plan around one arrival point and one return service. If access, a pushchair or luggage storage matters, confirm those facilities before setting out. Keep an indoor craft stop and a food stop as separate choices; the longer Gourmet Market session should not be used as the closing time of the Koïfhus.

A flexible way to choose your stops

For gift browsing, compare an outdoor square with the indoor Koïfhus selection. For regional food, start with Jeanne d’Arc or the Gourmet Market according to the kind of purchase or meal you want. Pick a meeting point by its full square or building name, then decide whether a second stop still suits the weather and what you are carrying.

Ask sellers about ingredients and packaging instead of assuming the same product is suitable for everyone. Confirm payment, drink deposits and the price of an individual activity on the day. This guide does not reproduce an old menu or guarantee that a specific craftsperson will attend.

Nearby in the wider Alsace region, Strasbourg’s announced chalet season ends on 24 December. Do not transfer that final date to Colmar, or Colmar’s dates to another Alsatian town. Compare Stuttgart’s earlier 23 December finish and the European Christmas market guide before choosing a city for late December.
