Sibiu Christmas Market 2026: dates & visiting guide

Sibiu is the option in this selection whose announced season reaches into January. Its Christmas market centres on Piața Mare, with illuminated stalls and activities in the historic square. Use the season dates to choose your trip, then check the daily programme before building a visit around a particular attraction.

The organiser publishes 13 November 2026–3 January 2027 and free admission. Its site gives weekday and weekend hours separately. The county tourism listing has a 31 December end date in its header but 3 January in its description; this guide uses the organiser’s announcement. Free entry does not establish that rides, food or workshops are free.

These dates and hours concern this edition. They are not a recurring year-round schedule or a real-time opening guarantee.

Choose between an Advent visit and a January visit

If you want to combine the market with a longer stay, choose your dates before booking individual activities. The announced season includes the days after Christmas, but a season-long date range does not establish identical hours or programming on every holiday. Keep the organiser link handy and check any attraction you particularly want before arriving.

Plan around the square, not an old map pin

Use Piața Mare as the venue name when checking directions. The directory also retains an older archived Sibiu Christmas listing at a different point nearby; that archived pin should not replace the current organiser’s venue description. The linked market record is the source point in the main square. It is a reference location, not a surveyed entrance or a promise about the layout of the stalls.

Make room for food, gifts and a warm break

Choose whether your main interest is browsing, buying gifts or joining a booked activity, and give that part of the visit enough time. Ask about ingredients and storage at food stalls, and about packing for fragile purchases. Set aside time for a warm break rather than assuming that spending a whole evening outside will suit everyone in your group. Ask permission before photographing people at close range.

A practical plan for families

Check the current age limits, booking requirements and prices of any attraction separately. A family can enjoy a short loop of stalls without doing every activity advertised for the season. Agree on a meeting point and leave space in the schedule for the journey back. The archive photograph illustrates an earlier edition; it cannot show which rides, stalls or routes will be present in 2026.

Combine seasonal shopping with an everyday market

A Christmas event and a food-shopping market serve different needs. Our Sibiu food-market guide compares Cibin and weekly producer-market options, while the Sibiu destination guide links to recorded locations. Check their own trading days rather than assuming a Christmas-market visit confirms the schedule elsewhere in the city.
