The Rathausplatz market is the Vienna option in this selection, not a calendar for every Christmas market in the city. Its announced stall season continues beyond Christmas Day, while the associated ice-skating offer has a different end date. Keep those two calendars separate when deciding what will be available during your stay.

A single all-day reminder for the announced opening date. It does not reserve a visit or confirm opening-day hours.

The organiser announces the Christmas market for 13 November–26 December 2026, daily 10:00–22:00, with 10:00–18:30 on 24 December. It separately lists ice skating until 6 January 2027 and a 31 December closure for that skating offer. The longer ice season does not extend the Christmas-market stalls.

Market stalls and ice skating are different plans
Decide which activity is the reason for your visit. If you want to browse the stalls, use the market’s final date. If you want to skate, check that activity’s own dates, session information, rental arrangements and prices. A photograph of both activities in an earlier year does not establish that they share the same season or ticket arrangements now.
Allow for the shorter Christmas Eve session
The regular evening close does not apply on 24 December. Check the rest of your itinerary separately, including the journey back and any restaurant or attraction you expect to use. If you are visiting after Christmas, follow the current organiser notice for your chosen date rather than treating a season-wide date range as a promise about every business at the venue.
Plan a useful route to Rathausplatz
Use Rathausplatz and the full market name when checking directions. The location pin is a reference within the square’s pedestrian area, derived from an open-map record. It is not an assessment of an accessible approach. Check current transport changes and entrances, and contact the organiser if a particular access need or facility is essential to your visit.
Browse at a pace that suits your group
Pick a meeting point, a comfortable visit length and one or two priorities. Ask vendors about materials, ingredients and packing before making a purchase. Bring a bag suited to what you intend to carry, and allow time for a break. There is no need to turn a Christmas-market visit into a list of compulsory foods or purchases; availability and preferences vary.
Compare cities by final date
A late-December trip needs a date check before a city shortlist. Compare the five announced seasons and read the exceptions in each guide. For a season reaching into January, see Sibiu Christmas Market. An advertised winter attraction in another city is not automatically a Christmas market.
